Service Ministries

Coordinator: Russ Foss

“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” (Matt 25:40)

Service Committee

Our service committee works to coordinate and brainstorm ways for our parishioners to serve those in need in our community. Opportunities exist to volunteer at a monthly soup kitchen for the homeless and/or a local ministry that offers emergency assistance to the working poor.

Bereavement

This ministry offers support to families that have suffered a recent loss of a loved one. This ministry can assist with the scheduling of funeral liturgies, arrange funeral receptions, offer comfort, and meet the practical needs of grieving families.

Giving Tree

The Annual Giving Tree is filled with ornaments representing two specific charities each year. The tree is located in the hospitality area of the PLC during the Advent season. All parishioners are encouraged to “Pick a tag! Purchase the gift! Return the Gift!” to the tree with the ornament attached so that the gifts can be distributed to the appropriate charity.

Helping Hands

To help families in the parish and community in crisis with various household needs. (Example: providing emergency clothing, help finding temporary shelter, rides to doctors, family meals, small home repairs, etc.)

Nursing Home Visits

To assist the elderly and convalesced in the community weekly. New volunteers are always welcome, no training required, flexible and very rewarding. Diocesan Safe Haven training required.

Prayer Line

The prayer line ministry offers a prayer chain within the parish community and elsewhere who have special prayer requests.
