Jn 10:11-18

John continues to break open the metaphor of shepherd and sheep, well known in the Jewish world. The relationship between the shepherd and his sheep is paramount. He knows each one and they know him. He is their protector who is willing to lay down his life for them.

It is this “I Am” statement in John’s Gospel that I identify with the most and even though shepherds and sheep are not part of my lived reality, I feel and am grateful for your tender care.
