Jn 21:15-19

Peter denied Jesus three times and, in this Gospel, we see God’s mercy poured out. At the heart of this this beautiful encounter Jesus offers Peter an opportunity to atone for his sin by publicly professing his love three times. Jesus, the Good Shepherd, is passing that role on to Peter who will ultimately lay down his life for his sheep.

There is such consolation and joy in knowing that my weakness, my sin is no match for the love Jesus offers me. I have only to accept and live in that love.
