Mt 5:38-42

The fifth antithesis deals with the Old Testament law of retaliation, “an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.” Jesus says resist even proportionate retaliation to stop the cycle of revenge. To “turn the other cheek” rather than fighting back is a response that a disciple must give with the hope of bringing out the best in others.

It’s often difficult to choose the “high road.” I have only to remember that it is your road, Lord.
