Jn 3:1-8

Nicodemus and Jesus’ dialogue begins with Nicodemus acknowledging Jesus as rabbi, teacher, perhaps evidence of openness to belief but a long way from full faith. Jesus responds by telling Nicodemus that it is necessary to be born in water and in the Spirit. Nicodemus takes Jesus’ words literally. He does not understand what Jesus is telling him about being “born again.”

There are times when I do not understand. It is then I realize I need you to increase in me the gifts given to me when I was Baptized and strengthened in me when Confirmed.
