Worship Ministries
Coordinator: Deacon John Tempesco
“Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness.” (Psalm 29:2)
Altar Servers
Servers assist the priest at Mass and help set an example of reverence for the rest of the congregation. Open to boys and girls who are in third grade or higher and have received their first Communion. Families must be willing to have their child sometimes serve at weekend Masses other than their preferred time. Training is provided periodically and the ministry manual may be found here: /media/1/Altar%20Server%20Instructions.pdf
Lectors
Lectors proclaim the Word of the Lord during the Liturgy. This ministry requires a desire to understand Scripture and sufficient public speaking skills to proclaim the Word to the congregation. Lectors are scheduled on a rotating basis. Training is provided and the ministry manual may be found here: /media/1/9-8-17%20Lector%20Instructions.pdf
Eucharistic Ministers
Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist are adults who serve during the Liturgy by distributing the Body and Blood of Christ to the assembled community. In addition to assisting during Mass, some of these ministers bring Communion to those who are hospitalized or homebound. Training is provided and ministers are scheduled on a rotating basis. The ministry manual for those who serve during the Liturgy may be found here: /media/1/9-11-17%20Extraordinary%20Minister%20Instructions.pdf
Music Ministry
Singers and musicians use their gifts to help lead the congregation in beautiful music during Mass. We are always looking for additional singers and musicians for our 4:00pm and 10:30am weekend liturgies.
Ushers
Ushers assist with the seating of parishioners and with other parts of the liturgy such as the collection and Communion lines. Training will be provided and the ministry manual may be found here: /media/1/9-26-2018%20Usher-Greeter%20Instructions.pdf
Greeters
Greeters help to welcome parishioners and visitors as they arrive at church, and seek to spend time with newcomers after Mass during hospitality. Greeters need to have a warm and friendly personality. We particularly need greeters at the 4:00pm and 8:00am weekend liturgies. The ministry manual may be found here: /media/1/9-26-2018%20Usher-Greeter%20Instructions.pdf
Sacristans
Sacristans work behind the scenes to set up for the celebration of Mass. They arrive at least 30 minutes before the liturgy and stay after to make sure everything is properly stored. We especially need people to help with our Thursday evening and Saturday morning liturgies. The ministry manual may be found here: /media/1/9-8-17%20Sacristan%20Instructions.pdf
Altar Society
The Altar Society is responsible for the altar linens, altar cloths, and vestments. The altar linens are laundered once a week. Altar cloths and vestments are laundered as needed.
Liturgical Art & Environment
The Art & Environment Ministry is responsible for enhancing the worship space for the different liturgical seasons.
